We recently reached out to our brothers to see what they have been up to since their time at Denison, and they had a lot to say! Thanks to Peter Halliday ’59 for giving us an update and sharing your stories from the good ole days! Here is what he had to say.
I was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1937 and graduated from Bexley High School in 1955. In high school I was vice president of the school as well as Captain of the football team. I graduated from Denison University with a BS in Economics in 1959. During my four years at Denison, I was a member of three honorarys, was President of the Alpha Eta chapter of Beta Theta Pi, President of the class of 1959 and was a US Marine Plc. For the next 35 years, I was in the investment business with a local NYSE firm. When I graduated from Denison, I had the privilege to be the President of the Lanson Stage Curtis Memorial Association which was the Beta Alumni Association in Granville, Ohio. I over saw the the rehabilitation of the Beta house during my tenure. My investment career, as well as my life experience was greatly enhanced by my Beta years. I learned how to manage many challenging experiences and work with varying personalities. In my business career I have served on 14 boards of directors, underwritten many early stage companies and started a community foundation where I am a life time director and am presently treasurer of 2 non profit groups in Sanibel, Florida, where my wife and I settled in 1985. My wife, Janet, and I met the second day on campus and married in 1959. We have three children and six grandchildren. Many of my Beta brothers have gone on to Wooglin but those that are left occasionally get together at reunions and funerals.
